Lalitpur, popularly known as Patan, is one of the three historic cities of the Kathmandu Valley and lies just south-east of Kathmandu. Often called the City of Fine Arts, Lalitpur is renowned for its centuries-old Newari culture, intricate woodcarving, metalwork, stone sculpture, Buddhist monasteries and beautifully preserved temples.
